How much of your lab time is spent with students sitting, observing, listening? Discover new approaches and ideas to transform your lab. Focus will be on practical strategies to make your lab flipped so that demonstrations occur on video, and when students arrive they dive into the skill with a spirit of experimentation to receive frequent feedback. Use of patient scenarios and chart documents places the skill in context, and debriefing techniques help guide student discovery and reflection.

  • Describe flipped classroom strategies to activate students’ lab performance.
  • Identify strategies to place skills in context in order to promote reflection through questions and debriefing.
  • Discuss methods the instructor can use to promote experiential - rather than passive – learning.
