  • Presenters
Pediatrics nursing requires knowledge and tools specific to this vulnerable population. Faculty and practitioners need to be current on the best tools and strategies for assessing, planning and communicating care for pediatric patients. This webinar will present rationale, uses and examples for the Pediatric Early Warning Score (PEWS), Pain scales (FLACC, CRIES, CHEOPS) and Pediatric Assessment Triangle (PAT). Rationale for why the tools are used in the pediatric population will be discussed.
  • Explain the purpose for using the PEWS tool, Pediatric pain scales and Pediatric Assessment Triangle.
  • Analyze a pediatric patient’s behavioral status, color, and vital signs to correctly calculate a PEWS, pain score, and level of distress.
  • Explain the importance of having standard assessment tools to enhance communication between healthcare providers.
